What is it about?

Ever wondered what it’s like for someone leaving prison after decades behind bars?

The world aging offenders return to is faster, more digital, and less familiar, while their bodies and minds have aged. They face barriers many of us never consider, from health decline and loneliness to outdated skills and the enduring stigma of a criminal record. Without informed and respectful support, these challenges can make reintegration an uphill battle.

What Is This Module About?

This 8-hour virtual training offers an in-depth understanding of the realities aging offenders face in prison and after release. You’ll explore the Bio-Psycho-Social (BPSS) Model and learn to apply it in aftercare work.

You’ll be ready to help aging offenders reintegrate with stability, purpose, and self-worth through:

  • Trauma-informed approaches for engaging respectfully

  • Practical strategies for housing, healthcare, and digital literacy

  • Communication techniques that respect autonomy and reduce resistance
